Ruth M. Newcome
Ruth M. Newcome, 86, of Butler died at 4:23 a.m. Friday at her daughter Patricia's residence.
Born May 1, 1923, in Butler, she was the daughter of the late Samuel Groves and Elizabeth Willis Groves.
Mrs. Newcome was a homemaker.
She was a member of First Baptist Church in Butler.
Her hobbies included quilting and gardening.
Mrs. Newcome is survived by three daughters, Patrica J. Varnum of Renfrew, Bonnie Newcome of Butler, and Cherie and her husband, Art Schultz, of Butler; five grandchildren, Gail Ortiz and her husband, Luis, Karen Nunna and her husband, Kiran, Ryan Varnum, Brian Schultz and his wife, Amy, and Todd Schultz; four great-grandchildren, Maya Nunna, Roshan Nunna, Gregory Schultz and Emma Schultz; three sisters, Joanne Thompson and her husband, Fred, of Chicora, Jean Flatt of Butler and Mary Ward of Butler; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Newcome was preceded in death by her husband, Clyde S. Newcome, who passed away June 2, 2001; one son-in-law, two brothers and four sisters.
<B>NEWCOME</B> — Friends of Ruth M. Newcome of Butler, who died Friday, Sept. 4, 2009, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at the <B>Thompson-Miller Funeral Home</B>, 124 E. North St., Butler. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the First Baptist Church with Pastor David Maitland and Pastor Todd Wentworth officiating.
