Eleanor Ruth Betz
Eleanor Ruth Betz, 85, of Renfrew died at 6:40 a.m. Wednesday at Butler Memorial Hospital.
Born July 23, 1924, in Armstrong County, she was the daughter of the late Albert and Hedwig Holly.
Eleanor was a retired secretary to the assistant director for the VA Butler Hospital after 35 years.
She was a member of St. Mark's Lutheran Church, where she was in the Good News Sunday School Class, secretary of Congregational Council, served as a substitute teacher of primary Sunday school department, and volunteer secretary and vice president of the St. Marks church women.
Eleanor enjoyed traveling and outdoor activities and was a member and past president of Keystone Squares. She was also a member of the National Association of Retired Federal Employees.
She was a graduate of Kittanning High School and Kittanning Business College.
Surviving are her husband, Daryl L. Betz, who she married May 14, 1946; a daughter, Karen Betz of Batavia, N.Y.; a sister, Alice Seigh of Delmont; a sister-in-law, Virginia Coffindaffer of Terra Alta, W.Va.; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by 14 sisters and brothers.
