BUTLER TWP — The sixth annual Toys for Tots motorcycle ride sponsored by the Marine Corps Reserve, Bantam Marine Detachment 743 of Butler and The American Legion Riders Butler Chapter 117 will be Oct. 3. The fee is a new toy, but no stuffed toys.
Riders should meet at 10 a.m. at Wal-Mart in the west parking lot. Riders will leave at 11 a.m. to tour Butler and Mercer counties making stops at local American Legions to collect donations. Donations can be made at any American Legion.
Anyone participating in the motorcycle ride is encouraged to participate in the Toys for Tots Dance at American Legion Post 117 on Main Street in Butler. The public is welcome to participate.
The dance will start at 8 p.m. with a live band. Cover charge will be one toy per person (no stuffed toys) or a suggested monetary donation of $5.
PENN TOWNSHIP — The U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary Flotilla 73 in Butler is offering safe boating classes next month.The classes are scheduled for 7 to 9 p.m. Oct. 20, 22, 27 and 29 at the Butler Airport Building conference room.Materials for the classes cost $25 and instructions are free. FRAZER TWP, Allegheny County — Viewing the planets Neptune and Uranus as well as the first quarter moon will be part of the show during the September Star Party sponsored by the Amateur Astronomers Association of Pittsburgh.This event begins at about 7:10 p.m. Saturday, weather permitting, at Nicholas E.
