The Butler Library will celebrate the arrival of Peter Bess, the new children's librarian, with a Kid's Cove open house from 10 to 11 a.m. and 1 to 2 p.m. Thursday. Participants will come to the children's department to make a craft and meet Bess.
Pre-kindergarten children are also needed for a television taping at the library at 1 p.m. Sept. 25. Armstrong's Story Time with Tai Brown will be filmed in the children's department. The show will air on Armstrong television the first week of October.
EVANS CITY —The Kiwanis Club of Mars will sponsor a "Nite at the Races" event at 6 p.m. Saturday at St. Matthias Church, Route 68. Admission is free and there will be music, food and beverages. For information, call 724-333-5230.
FAIRVIEW TWP — A scenic motorcycle ride through Cook's Forest will depart at 11:30 a.m. Saturday from the Beer Garden, 2399 Oneida Valley Road, Petrolia.Registration starts at 10:30 a.m. Bikes and cars are welcome.The ride will return to the restaurant at 4:30 p.m. and there will be food, music, raffles and more.The ride will benefit Carla Dunkle, who has been diagnosed with breast cancer. SUMMIT TWP — The annual Butler Rosary Rally will be held at 7 p.m. Oct. 7 at St. Mary of the Assumption Church in Herman.The Rev. Ward Stakem will preside at the service, which is sponsored by the Legion of Mary in Butler County.
