Butler cross country 2nd at Invitational

Led by Danica Snyder and Ashton Dolan, who placed second and seventh, respectively, the Butler girls cross country team placed second out of 11 teams at the Slippery Rock Invitational 5K in the Class AAA race Saturday at Coopers Lake.

Snyder was clocked at 20 minutes, 9 seconds while Dolan followed with a 20:36. The Grove City girls placed sixth, highlighted by Sara Chuzie's 13th-place performance at 20:54.

In the boys Class AAA race, Grove City placed third and Butler fifth out of 14 teams. Jacob Kildoo finished second with a time of 16:15 for Grove City while Evan Gomez paced Butler with a fifth-place finish at 16:41.

In Class AA girls, Freeport's Kayla Zboran finished seventh (20:45) to lead the Yellowjackets and Sarah Young was 46th to key Karns City. In Class AA, Freeport's Nick Gentile placed sixth at 17:38.

• At Schenley Park for the Red White & Blue Invitational at Schenley Park, the Mars boys placed 26th and Seneca Valley 27th in the boys' 'A' race while the Mars girls were 17th and Seneca Valley 23rd in the 'A' race.
