Brian Nickel was worth a lot more than that to Shady Side Academy Friday night at Freeport's Swartz Field.

The Indians running back carried 29 times for 160 yards and all three of his team's touchdowns in a 20-14 win over the Yellowjackets.

Nickel's final score — a 10-yard run — occurred in overtime as the Yellowjackets (1-1) failed to score on their possession.

Nickel's other scores came on runs of 13 and 2 yards.

Alex Isenberg helped Freeport to a 7-0 lead in the second quarter when he threw a 32-yard touchdown pass to Derek Durand.

Shady Side tied the game, but the Yellowjackets quickly regained the lead when Marcell Ittner returned the ensuing kickoff 69 yards for a touchdown.

Nickel's 2-yard touchdown run in the fourth quarter forced overtime.

Grove City 22, Erie East 19 (2OT) — Jeff Hershberger's 22-yard field goal in the second overtime were the deciding points for the Eagles (2-0).Jamarr Patterson scored on a 36-yard run and Wesley Phipps added two short touchdown runs — the second in overtime — for Grove City.Both teams missed their respective PATs after scoring overtime touchdowns.Grove City survived a stellar performance from Erie East quarterback Gary Brown, who rushed for 157 yards and threw for 129.
