The Butler County Community College women's volleyball team placed fourth in the eight-team LaRoche Invitational over the weekend.

The lone two-year program in the tournament, the Pioneers defeated LaRoche 3-1 and Chatham 3-1. BC3 (3-2) lost to Washington & Jefferson and Bethany by 3-0 counts.

Seneca Valley graduate Sarah Beals had 31 kills and 67 digs, Karns City graduate Ashley Campbell had 27 kills, A-C Valley graduate Kelli Davis 62 assists and Slippery Rock High graduate Hillary Pendel 58 digs.

The Pioneers play Point Park's junior varsity at 6 p.m. today in Green Tree.

Knoch graduate Ethan Danner carded a 79 Tuesday to lead Butler County Community College to a victory over CCAC-South and Westmoreland County Commnity College at Norvelt Golf Course in Mount Pleasant.The Pioneers (9-1) had a 345 team score as Bobby Marshall carded an 80, Butler graduate Antonio Baroffio shot an 87 and Knoch graduate Kory Schorr notched a 99. CCAC-South had a 358, Westmoreland a 351.BC3 hosts CCAC-Boyce and CCAC-North Thursday at Lake Arthur Country Club.

The Slippery Rock University soccer team received two goals from Alex Swartz and a goal and two assists from Jeremy Deighton in a 3-1 victory over West Virginia Wesleyan in nonconference action Tuesday.Toby Bowser added an assist for SRU (4-1).

Alison Hindley gave SRU an early 1-0 lead over Edinboro in PSAC West action Tuesday, but the Scots battled back to force a 1-all tie.Alyssa Barrett assisted on Hindley's goal for The Rock (2-1-1, 1-1-1).
