Nellie June Turk Kennedy, 62, of Joy Lane in Butler died Thursday at the Good Samaritan Hospice in Cabot.

She was born May 29, 1947, in Butler, the daughter of the late Loyal and Audra States Pearce Turk.

She was a 1965 graduate of Butler High School.

Nellie worked for Bell Telephone, Union National Bank, Butler Motor Transit, Phillips Gas, Servistar, Newhaven Assisted Living and Room Full Express. She was a homemaker, mother and grandmother.

She was a member of the St. Peter Roman Catholic Church in Butler.

Nellie enjoyed working in her flower garden, going to flea markets, shopping and going to casinos, and she loved spending time with her grandchildren.

Her husband, Lawrence D. "Ken" Kennedy, who she married Nov. 12, 1966, survives. Also surviving are her son and his wife, Michael and Lisa Kennedy of Alabama; her daughter, Mrs. Rob (Melissa) Lincavage of Colorado; five grandchildren, Drake and Zach Kennedy of Butler and Troy, Payton and Brady Lincavage of Colorado; and a half-brother, James A. Turk of Butler. Several nieces, nephews and her sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law also survive.

Nellie was preceded in death by three half-brothers, Howard C. Pearce, Joseph A. Pearce and William "Bill" Turk; and an infant half-brother.

<B>KENNEDY</B> — At the request of Nellie June Turk Kennedy, who died Thursday, Aug. 6, 2009, there will be no visitation or services. Cremation services are provided by the <B>Geibel Funeral Home</B>, 201 E. Cunningham St.Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, Butler County Unit.
