HARRISBURG — State Sen. Jane Orie, R-40th, will join retired U.S. Army Gen. Tommy Franks and others involved in the Hearts of Steel campaign to present more than $1 million that has been raised for the Flight 93 memorial. The presentation will be made at 11 a.m. Thursday, the day before the eighth anniversary of the 9-11 terrorist attacks on the United States.

Former Gov. Mark Schweiker, representatives of the National Park Service and Families of Flight 93 also will join in the ceremony in the State Capitol's East Wing Media Center.

A consortium of businesses, nonprofit organizations, unions and others joined to produce stainless steel engraved bracelets similar to the POW bracelets of the 1970s. The original goal was to raise $10,000 for the Flight 93 memorial.
