Hayden

Helen Hayden, 86, of Cabot died Thursday at the Good Samaritan Hospice, Cabot.

Born April 14, 1923, in Curtisville, she was the daughter of John and Mary Hremoth.

She proudly served in the Navy at the time of the attack on Pearl Harbor as a nurse.

She was employed at the mushroom mine for more than 20 years. Helen owned Hayden's Dairy Bar.

She was a lifetime member of the American Legion Post 0683 in Saxonburg and the VFW Post 7376 in Saxonburg. She was honored for being the adjutant at the American Legion for 10 years. She volunteered at the VA Butler Healthcare. She also was a member of the Eastern Star.

She retired to her farm, which she loved. She loved bingo and went on many road trips.

Surviving are her son, Joe and his wife, Debbie (Bortmas), Minton; her daughter, Cindy and her husband, Rick Morse; her daughters-in-law, Mary Lou (Tackett) Minton and Donna (Conklin) Minton; her grandchildren, Jessica (Scott) Hillwig, Jenessa Minton, Lindsey (Cory) Jecmen, Kristen Morse, James (Cheryl) Minton, Jeffrey (Tracy) Minton, Mark Minton, John (Julie) Minton, Jannelle Minton and Sean Minton; her great-grandchildren, Rick and Marissa Mittica, Hunter Motter, Logan Jecmen, Samantha (Mike) Chichick, Craig Minton, Jacob, Alexis and Connor Minton and Seville Minton; one sister, Caroline Heakins; and many nieces and nephews.

Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, Robert Hayden in 1993; beloved sons, James C. Minton Jr., founder of Jim's Generator Service, and John W. Minton, well known as "Big John Studd;" two sisters; and a brother.

<B>HAYDEN</B> — Friends of Helen Hayden, who died Thursday, Aug. 6, 2009, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the <B>Fox Funeral Home</B>, 410 W. Main St., Saxonburg. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday at the funeral home.
