Thomas W. Harruff Sr.
Thomas W. Harruff Sr., 56, of Boyers died Saturday at Butler Memorial Hospital.
Thomas was born in New Castle, March 5, 1953, the son of G. Gaylord Harruff and Shirley L. Hatfield Harruff Buckel.
He married the former Margaret M. Goodman on June 8, 1974.
He served in the U.S. Navy from 1972 to 1978 on the USS John F. Kennedy C-V67, and he attended the New Castle Business College.
Tom retired from the U.S. Postal Service in 2005 as a forklift driver after 20 years.
Tom was an avid outdoorsman who collected guns and did reloading. He enjoyed remote control cars and planes, reading and history. Most of all, he enjoyed his time spent with his grandchildren.
He attended the Butler Wesleyan Church.
Besides his mother and wife, he is survived by a daughter, Kerry L. Stanford (Frank) of Cranberry Township; three sons, Thomas W. Harruff Jr. (Cindy) of Cranberry Township, Kenneth S. Harruff (Mindy) of Butler and Lance Cpl. Dominic M. Pagley (Jamie) of North Carolina; a brother, David (Esther) Harruff of New Castle; a sister, Kathy (Robert) Taylor of New Castle, and 12 grandchildren.
In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his stepfather, Richard Buckel.
<B>HARRUFF</B> — Visitation for Thomas W. Harruff Sr., who died Saturday, Aug. 1, 2009, will be from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday and from 10 to 11 a.m. Thursday at the <B>J. Bradley McGonigle Funeral Home and Crematory Inc.</B>, 111 W. Falls St., New Castle. A funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home. The Rev. William F. Fish will officiate.Full military rites will be conducted by the New Castle Area Honor Guard.
