Lucia Hindman has been elected the Butler Junior Women's Club president for 2009-2010.Other officers include first vice president Sue Shewalter-Brown, second vice president Tanya Ambrose, corresponding secretary Stacey Panei, recording secretary Candy Porch, treasurer Jeannie Gilkey and assistant treasurer Hollie Stevenson.Since joining in 2005, Lucia has served as first vice president, second vice president and on several committees. She also co-chaired the annual club fundraiser in 2008 and 2009.After graduating in 1989 from Butler High School, she pursued a nursing career. She is also president of the Butler Montessori School Board and a member of St. Paul Roman Catholic Church.——————Dancers from
Studio 19 Dance Complex in Cranberry Township recently returned from the National Dance Championships in Myrtle Beach with 17 first-place trophies.Their production number "Take Off with Us" won the Victory Cup trophy. Studio 19 also received the FDC Studio Excellence Award for overall high scores during the week of completion.Three soloists received top honors with Petite, Junior and Teen Miss Starpower title awards.The dancers also won five first-place trophies in the "Battle of the Stars" portion, in which the earlier winners perform again in a final competition.——————
<B>Hillary Marshall</B>, 17, of Boyers was named Riverfest Queen 2009 in July during East Brady's Riverfest celebration.She competed in casual wear, evening gown, personal interview and talent. For her talent, she danced to "Popular" from the Broadway show "Wicked." She was also named People's Choice and Miss Congeniality.A senior at Moniteau High school, she is the daughter of Frank and Sharon Marshall of Boyers.——————<BR><BR><BR><BR><BR>
<B>The Young Americans Dance Twirl</B> <B>Team</B> competed July 21 at the USA National Baton Twirling Championships at Notre Dame University.The Senior Young Americans won the title of Beginner Dance Twirl Champions, beating out nine other teams. Members are captain <B>Mallory Semler, Kayla Chelko, Jennifer Chelko, Shawna Durst, Kayla Godlewski, Jennifer Hawk, Ashley Hughes, Erika Stamper, Emma Trombatt, Kayla Newman</B> and <B>Elyssa Aull.</B>The Senior Diamond Girls Dance Troupe won second place. They are the regional dance line champions. Members are captain <B>Mallory Semler, Allyson Caruso, Kayla Godlewski, Stephanie Gross, Ashley Hughes, Megan Mahan </B>and <B>Erika Stamper.</B>The Junior Young Americans won third place in Beginner Dance Twirl. They are the Regional Dance Twirl Champions. Members are <B>Stacy Arner, Allyson and Jenifer Caruso, Becky Carrier, Rachel Davis, Emily Doran, Jessica Fix, Stephanie Gentile, Stephanie Gross, Brooke Laidlaw, Olivia Mahan, Colleen McKeag, Carley Milcic</B> and <B>Madison Semler</B>.Competing nationally for the first time, the Juvenile Young Americans won fifth place in Beginner Dance Twirl. Members are <B>Katie Bozzo, Molly Conlon, Heidi Fanton, Abbey Mahan, Cailee Murray, Kenley </B>and <B>Schaely Renfrew</B> and <B>Sarah Roudybush.</B>All of the girls competed as a twirling corps during the halftime show and placed third.The Young Americans and Diamond Girls are students at Gwen's School of Champions in Saxonburg.
