Jean M. Murphy
Jean M. Murphy, 80, of Henricks Road, Butler, died at 1:05 a.m. Friday in Butler Memorial Hospital.
She was born Oct. 5, 1928, in Pittsburgh, the daughter of the late Paul J. Steigerwald and Mary Conley Steigerwald.
She was Catholic by faith and was a dedicated mother and grandmother — the keeper of all her family's hearts. She loved her family and especially enjoyed watching the family grandchildren and great-grandchildren grow.
Surviving are her husband, Edward Paul Murphy of Butler, who she married July 7, 1947; five daughters, Patricia Cavanaugh of Butler, with whom she made her home, Colleen Halagich of Summit Township, Deborah Houlihan and her husband, Dennis, of Penn Hills, Kathleen Murphy of Ocala, Fla., and Jeanne Murphy of Bridgeville; one son, Daniel G. Murphy and his wife, Cynthia, of Slippery Rock; 15 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; one sister, Dorothy Zoeller of West View; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by three sisters, Helen Steigerwald, Catherine Naughton and Lois Meyer; one brother, Paul J. Steigerwald II; and a son-in-law, Michael Cavanaugh.
<B>MURPHY</B> — A remembrance service for Jean M. Murphy, who died at 1:05 a.m. Friday, July 31, 2009, will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at <B>Thompson-Miller Funeral Home Inc.,</B> 124 E. North St., Butler, 16001. There will be visitation with the family held one hour prior.
