SOMERSET, N.J. — Butler graduate Meghan Schnur led the Women's Professional Soccer league in minutes played as her Sky Blue team won the first WPS championship.
Sky Blue had to win three road playoff games in eight days to capture the crown, which they won with a 1-0 decision over the regular season champion Los Angeles Sol.
Schnur played 2,021 minutes and repeatedly stopped Marta — a Brazilian and the 2008 FIFA Women's Soccer Player of the Year — in one-on-one coverage during the league title game.
Schnur was selected to play with the full U.S. Women's National Soccer Team this fall.

HURRICANE, W.Va. — Butler Country Club pro Rob McClellan's foursome and duo finished first in the Sleepy Hollow Pro-Pro-Am-Am golf tournament Tuesday at Sleepy Hollow Country Club.McClellan teamed with Pittsburgh National Golf Club pro Ryan Sikora and amateurs Bill Hunter and Craig Thomasmeyer to card a 257 for the two-round event, 10 strokes better than the second-place foursome.McClellan and Sikora carded a 127 in the pro-pro portion of the event, one stroke better than Jonathan Clark and Craig Berner and three strokes better than Treesdale duo Joe Boros and Travis Dickson.
