Hindley goal lifts Rock to 1-0 win

Alison Hindley's goal just moments into the game proved to be the difference as the Slippery Rock University women's soccer team, ranked No. 16 in all of Division II, posted a 1-0 win over visiting West Virginia Wesleyan on Sunday afternoon.

Rachel Knapp tallied an assist as her corner kick was headed in by Hindley.

The season-opening victory also featured two saves and a shutout from Rock goalkeeper Sarah Lacy.

Men's SoccerGreg Blum registered six saves and allowed just one goal, but the SRU goalkeeper shouldered the loss in The Rock's 1-0 defeat to Ashland University, Sunday at the Shippensburg Tournament.SRU (1-1) entered the contest ranked No. 18 in Division II.

Men's GolfBobby Marshall fired an 83 to lead the Butler County Community College men's golf team to a second-place finish out of nine teams in the Western Pennsylvania Collegiate Conference Fall Invitational over the weekend at Wisp Resort in Maryland.The Pioneers totaled 343 strokes, 13 behind first place Potomac State, which shot 330.Other scores for BC3 included Antonio Baroffio (84), Ethan Danner (88), Doug Aller (88) and Kory Schorr (100).
