II-VI Foundation awards scholarship funding to 5
Five students were awarded up to $10,000 each in scholarships from the II-VI Foundation to continue pursuing degrees in science, mathematics or engineering for the 2009-10 school year. Recipients are:
Joseph Sopcisak of Butler is a sophomore at the University of Pittsburgh, where he is studying engineering.
Rebecca Reid of Saxonburg is a sophomore at the University of Pittsburgh, where she is studying chemistry.
Matthew Mahan of Saxonburg is a sophomore at Grove City College studying mathematics.
Wesley Marks of Butler is a junior at Grove City College studying mechanical engineering.
Shane Mills of Cabot is a junior at Grove City College studying mathematics.The private, nonprofit II-VI Foundation was established in May 2007 by Carl and Margot Johnson. Carl Johnson is founder and chairman of II-VI, a worldwide corporation headquartered in Saxonburg, specializing in the fabrication of optics for laser systems.
