Earnest A. Zilka Sr.

Zilka Sr.

Earnest Anthony Zilka Sr., 72, of Clinton Township, formerly of Hampton Township, Allegheny County, died at home Monday.

He was born in Bairdford to the late Rudolph and the late Elizabeth (Tonecha) Zilka.

Mr. Zilka was a heavy equipment operator with Local 66 of the Operators and Engineers Union, working on road construction.

Earnie was a member of the St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church and a former member of the St. Ursula church.

He is survived by two daughters, Jean (Joe) Scherer of Renfrew and Joan (Matthew) Welsh of Saxonburg; two sons, Earnest A. (Linda) Zilka Jr. of Sarver and Mike (Leanne) Zilka of Renfrew; grandchildren, Matthew and Ray Welsh, Joey and Jessie Scherer, and Missy, Alicia, Michael, Jake, Emily, Julie and Earnie Zilka III; great-grandchildren, Matthew and Karson Welsh; siblings, Elsie Milcic of Etna, Eleanor Coluccio of Shaler Township, David Zilka of Shaler Township, Irene Mooney of Delaware, Verna DuMontier of Coraopolis, Betty Lauchman of Pittsburgh, Millie Simmen of Springdale and Lorraine Zilka of Hampton Township; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Doris Jean (Sheehan) Zilka, who died Nov. 4, 2002; their son, Mark Zilka, who died June 28, 1995; and his brothers, Rudy and Carl Zilka.

<B>ZILKA</B> — Visitation for Earnest Anthony Zilka Sr., who died Monday, June 29, 2009, will be from 2 to 4 and 6 to 9 p.m. today at the <B>King Funeral Home</B>, 2841 Woodland Circle, Allison Park. A Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Thursday at the St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church, 315 Stoney Hollow Road in Cabot, with Father Mark Carter as celebrant.
