Julia Belechak of Cranberry Township was awarded the title of 2009 National American Miss Pennsylvania. She will represent Pennsylvania at the national pageant in November in Anaheim, Calif.A sophomore at Seneca Valley High School, she maintains a high grade point average and has volunteered at Gleaner's Food Bank and teaches CCD at St. Kilian's Parish.She also has served as a teen coach for the Seneca Valley Junior Football Association of Cranberry Township and been a cheerleader for the SVJFAC and her school.She is the daughter of Joe and Michelle Belechak of Cranberry Township.———
Marilyn Lamireaux of Evans City tied for first place at the Blind Association of Butler and Armstrong's first chili cook-off July 18 at the Worthington-West Franklin fire hall. Lamireaux's recipe for Bugger's Famous Chili tied with Sona Murphy of Manorville, Armstrong County's Red Hot Mama's Chili.
Sam Toy of Worthington won the people's choice award with his Toy Wonder chili.
Tony Janicki of Butler won second place in both the Fire Hose and people's choice categories with his Pepper Head chili.
———<B>Mark Brennan</B>, president and CEO of Clearview Federal Credit Union, presented a donation July 17 to <B>Lori Campbell</B> and <B>Randy Fox</B> of the Butler Public Library and <B>Sheila Brown</B> of the Butler County Federated Library System at the grand opening of the Clearview branch.The new location at 600 Butler Crossing is Clearview's 11th branch in the region. Clearview plans to continue the expansion of their branch network in 2010.———<B>Chuck Boyles</B> of Rimersburg won the 2009 Harley Davidson Dyna Glide Custom on July 18. Boyles purchased the winning raffle ticket from the American Legion Riders of Butler County.———
<B>Armco Women's Club </B>gathered June 20 for a reunion luncheon.The members have presided over many fundraisers and donated funds to many community organizations, as well as individuals, over the years.In its heyday, the members met monthly at local restaurants to keep the social aspect of the Club alive. When AK Steel purchased Armco, the Club became inactive, but the members still keep in touch.The members scheduled next year's reunion for June 19.———On July 16, the winners at the Butler D.B.C. were:First: <B>Alan Martin</B> and <B>Ray Kramer</B>Second: <B>Nick Tredennick</B> and <B>Bob Freemon.</B>
