Joel Frederick Martin
Joel Frederick Martin, 74, of Scottdale, Pa., was called home to the Lord at 3:11 p.m. Monday at his residence.
Born May 3, 1935, in Ellwood City, he was the son of the late Benjamin Martin and the late Bertha Wardman Martin.
Mr. Martin was a truck driver by trade.
He was a member of Christ United Methodist Church of Scottdale. He was a member of the American Legion of Scottdale, the Scottdale Elks 777, the Scottdale Fireman's Club, the Bullskin Senior Citizens and the Everson Senior Citizens.
Mr. Martin enjoyed country music and going to Nashville. He was a charter member of the P.C.M.A., the Pennsylvania Country Music Association.
Mr. Martin is survived by his wife, Margery Thompson Martin, who he married June 9, 2005; two sons, Martin J. Martin and Benjamin C. and his wife, Mary Martin; seven daughters, Tanya and her husband, Ralph Card, of Butler, Jackie Keefer and her companion, Tom McCommon, of Butler, Donna Martin of Butler, Rita and her husband, Tom Huff, of Chicora, Jayne Martin and her companion, Pete Mullen, of Butler, Margie and her husband, Richard Wood, of Washington, Pa., and Linda and her husband, Mark Faupel, of Alpharetta, Ga.; 21 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Glenn and his wife, Alice Martin, and Ronald and his wife, Jean Martin, both of California; two sisters, Vivian Wilcho and Linda and her husband, Dave Belsito; and a number of nieces and nephews.
<B>MARTIN</B> — Friends of Joel Frederick Martin, who died Monday, June 22, 2009, will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at <B>Thompson-Miller Funeral Home Inc.</B>, 124 E. North St., Butler. Services will be held at 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home with Pastor Dennis Henley, of Christ United Methodist Church, officiating.American Legion Post 778 and VFW Post 249 will provide military honors at the funeral home.In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, Butler County Unit, P.O.
