BUFFALO TWP — Heavy rain and an uncertain forecast forced postponement of Tuesday night's Don Martin Memorial Silver Cup XVIII World of Outlaws Sprint series program at Lernerville Speedway.

The show has been rescheduled for today. Pit gates open at 4 p.m., grandstand gates at 5. Hot laps will take place at 6:30, time trials at 7:15, racing at 8.

FARMINGTON — Butler Country Club assistant pro Rob McClellan shot an 8-under-par 208 to win the 2009 Falling Rock Classic Tuesday at the Mystic Rock course of Nemacolin Woodlands Resort.McClellan won the 54-hole event by one stroke over Barry Evans of Berry Hills Country Club. John Aubrey of Aubrey's Dubbs Dred finished seven strokes back.

COLUMBUS, Ohio — Seneca Valley graduate Zach Jackson allowed one run on seven hits over six innings to help the Columbus Clippers, the Class AAA affiliate of the Cleveland Indians, to an 8-1 victory over Scranton/Wilkes-Barre Monday.Jackson struck out four and walked one in picking up his first victory since May 21, snapping a five-game losing streak. For the season, Jackson is 4-7 with a 5.37 ERA, 42 strikeouts and 19 walks.

STATE COLLEGE — Penn State backup receiver James McDonald is off the football team after police charged him with drunken driving.A one-sentence statement Tuesday from the athletic department said the fifth-year senior would not be invited back to the Nittany Lions this fall. The statement did not elaborate.State College police on Monday filed two misdemeanor counts of driving under the influence against McDonald after he was pulled over July 9 for an expired registration.The 22-year-old from Washington, D.C., also faces a violation of driving a car with an expired registration. A preliminary hearing was scheduled for Aug. 19.McDonald has played sparingly at Penn State, finishing last season with five catches for 72 yards.

HOUSTON — Houston Rockets center Yao Ming had surgery Tuesday to repair a broken bone in his left foot. Yao is expected to miss the 2009-10 season, but will be ready for training camp in 2010.Yao suffered the hairline fracture late in a May 8 playoff game against the Los Angeles Lakers. The Rockets said late last month that the injury had not healed and he was out indefinitely. Last Friday, the 7-foot-6 center announced that he'd have the surgery.The injury had raised questions, especially in his native China, about Yao's playing future. But on July 8, he said through his agent that he was "optimistic about the future and I will return to playing basketball when my foot has fully healed."

TORONTO — Blue Jays general manager J.P. Ricciardi still hasn't received an appropriate trade offer for Roy Halladay, and has set a July 28 deadline to complete a deal for the 2003 Cy Young Award winner.Baseball's non-waiver trade deadline is July 31. Ricciardi said July 6 he would field offers for Halladay, who is signed through 2010 and has a full no-trade clause.Ricciardi said the deadline is necessary to get an agreement in place for what is likely to be a complicated deal. He also wants the matter resolved before Halladay makes a scheduled start July 29 in Seattle.

SAN FRANCISCO — A former UCLA basketball player is suing the NCAA over its use of former student athletes' images in DVDs, video games, photographs, apparel and other material.In a federal lawsuit, Ed O'Bannon says the NCAA illegally has athletes sign away their rights to the commercial use of their images and does not share any of the proceeds from their use with former athletes.
