Mildred P. Schar, 90, of Mars, died Friday at her residence.

She was born in Pittsburgh on July 19, 1918, the daughter of the late Ralph and Jean Dunlap Pinkerton.

She was a member of the Mars United Methodist Church, where she was active in many groups and clubs.

She was a retired secretary from Equitable Gas Co. in Pittsburgh.

Surviving are two daughters, Rebecca Aletto and her husband, Gary, of Carmel, Ind., and Terry Lenoir and her husband, Julian, of Valencia; a daughter-in-law, Laurie Schar of Colorado; and seven grandchildren, Ashley, Brienne and Braden Aletto, Tanner and Donovan Schar, and Jessica and Julie Lenoir.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank L. "Roy" Schar; one son, Paul Schar; and three brothers, Duane, Ralph and Wendell Pinkerton.

<B>SCHAR</B> — There will be no visitation for Mildred P. Schar, who died Friday, June 19, 2009. Friends are invited to the funeral service at 11 a.m. Monday in the Mars United Methodist Church, 525 Pittsburgh St., Mars, with the Rev. Timothy Bowser officiating. Burial will follow in Allegheny County Memorial Park Cemetery, McCandless Township.
