Proceeds from horse show to benefit diabetes research

JEFFERSON TWP — A portion of the proceeds from this year's fourth annual Brent Henderson Memorial Open Horse Show at 9 a.m. Sunday will be donated to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.

"He was a great equestrian," said Celina Henderson, Brent's daughter. "He was known in the horse industry for his promotion of Arabian horses and horses in general."

Brent Henderson was the owner of the Henderson Equestrian Complex at 540 Bullcreek Road until his death in February 2006 from diabetes and heart failure. His daughter and her family have participated in different walks for the cure of diabetes since his death.

The portion of proceeds from the horse show will be donated by a group, including Celina Henderson, who will participate in the Sept. 12 Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation Walk to Cure Diabetes in Schenley Park in Pittsburgh.

The horse show is at the Henderson Equestrian Complex and will have a Brent Henderson memorial trophy presented to the command class winner.

For information, contact the equestrian complex by calling 724-352-1468, e-mailing info@hendersonequestriancomplex.com. or visiting www.hendersonequestriancomplex.com.
