Ethel Jean Smith

Ethel Jean Smith, 95, of Chattanooga, Tenn., formerly of Zelienople, passed away Thursday.

She was born March 8, 1914, to the late Claude and Anna Bauder and was preceded in death by her son, Dan Smith Jr.; two brothers; and four sisters.

She was a member of the Grace Church in Harmony, where she was a Sunday school teacher for many years.

She and her husband would have celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary in August.

Survivors include her husband, Daniel Smith; a daughter and son-in-law, Carol and James Markel; a daughter-in-law, Joanne Smith; four grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; two sisters, Christine Heist and Shirley Nelson; a sister-in-law, Gretchen Turner; and several nieces and nephews.

<B>SMITH</B> — A memorial service for Ethel Jean Smith, who died Thursday, June 4, 2009, was at 10 a.m. Monday, June 8, at the Trinity Woodmore Chapel of Christ United Methodist Church with the Rev. Jim Philpot officiating.In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Amedysis Hospice of Chattanooga or Grace Church of Harmony, Pa.Arrangements are by the <B>Valley View Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home</B>, Chattanooga, Tenn.
