Edna Rose Allen Turner, 90, of Home 2 Me in Slippery Rock Township, formerly of Jamestown, Pa., died Sunday at Orchard Manor.

Born in Brady Township, July 10, 1918, she was the daughter of Lamont Clyde Allen and Agnes Thompson Allen.

She married Earl E. Turner on March 17, 1939. He died May 15, 1982.

She was a Methodist.

Edna was a cook's helper in the former Schuster's Restaurant on the Greenville-Hermitage Road for more than 20 years, and she worked at the Greenville Hospital for 10 years.

She had lived in the Greenville area for 39 years, moved to Florida in 1978 and returned to Pennsylvania in 2008.

She was a graduate of Slippery Rock High School.

She was an avid reader and would help anyone in need. The world is a less kind place without her in it. She will be missed by all who knew her and loved her.

Surviving are a brother, Gerald L. Allen of West Liberty; eight nieces, Jane Ann and her husband, LaVern, Dunn of Grove City, Sally Lou and her husband, Willard, Alben of Slippery Rock, Caroline Lee DaCosta of Mercer, Alice Agnes and her husband, Cal, Holden of Woodstock, Va., Martha Marie Berger of Slippery Rock, Sharon Allen of Slippery Rock, Karen Sue and her husband, Dale, Wimer of Portersville and Linda Diane and her husband, Tom, Butcherine of Hillards; six nephews, William J. and his wife, Peggy, Allen of Connecticut, Norman John and his wife, Paula, Allen of Chesapeake, Va., Richard Lamont and his wife, Geri, Allen of Slippery Rock, Roger P. and his wife, Kim, Allen of Florida, Daniel Allen of Slippery Rock and Gerald Thomas and his wife, Sharon, Allen of Prospect. Also surviving is a close friend, Rosita Suarez of Miami, Fla.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two sons, Earl Eugene and Gerald Edward Turner; a sister, Virginia Allen Mershimer; five brothers, David William Allen, James Allen, John Allen, Richard Allen and Charles Allen; a niece, Mary Jane Croll; and a nephew, Jimmy Dick Allen.

<B>TURNER</B> — Friends of Edna Rose Allen Turner, who died Sunday, June 7, 2009, will be received from 11 a.m. until time of service at 1 p.m. Thursday at the <B>Smith Funeral Home</B>, 421 New Castle St., Slippery Rock. The Rev. James Lewis, pastor of the West Liberty United Methodist Church, will officiate. Interment will be at the Miami Memorial Park, Miami, Fla.
