Man allegedly yanks girlfriend out of pickup

He is accused of felony assault

A Jackson Township man is accused of felony assault for allegedly dragging his girlfriend out of a pickup Sunday night and leaving her on a Butler street, city police said.

The woman, 28-year-old Karoline Moore, was flown by medical helicopter to Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh, where she was treated for injuries and released Monday.

Fritz F. Nickle, 44, is charged with injuring Moore shortly before 9:15 p.m.

Police said Nickle and Moore were riding in the pickup near Penn and Washington streets when the truck stopped. Witnesses reported seeing the front seat passenger, later identified as Nickle, get out.

The suspect opened the rear door, witnesses said, "grabbed the female by the hair and drug her out of the vehicle and onto the road," according to a police report

The defendant reportedly got back into the pickup, driven by Donald Schram, 56, of Butler, which took off, leaving Moore still on the road and injured.

Police were called, and Moore told officers her boyfriend had thrown her out of the truck.

Nickle was arrested later that night and arraigned on charges of aggravated assault, simple assault, disorderly conduct and public drunkenness.

He was released from the Butler County Prison after posting $15,000 bail.
