Students win Challenge Program awards
GROVE CITY — For the third year in a row, a number of Grove City High School students were awarded $250 each through the Challenge Program.
Sponsored by Trinity Living Center, the 12 award winners were honored for outstanding achievement in class attendance, community service, grade-point average and overall improvement throughout the school year.
Unlike other high school award programs that distribute scholarships, the Challenge Program gives each student a check.
Trinity Living Center donated the money, with Jean Dobay, administrator of Trinity Living Center, presenting the awards.
Sophomores Cody Karcher, Victoria Clauss, Dillon Barr and Aimme Sanner received the award along with juniors Hasreet Gill, Vincent Royer, Derek Charlier, Molly Patton and seniors Jordan Gruber, Kylie Dickey, Marguerite Daly and Kim Levan.
"Trinity Living Center is proud to sponsor a program that offers immediate rewards for students who demonstrate the traits that are so valued by adults in the workplace and in the communities we call home," Dobay said in a news release.
This program was created by Johnstown businessman Daniel Perkins, owner of a group of technology companies.
By 2006, the Challenge Program reached about 32,000 students nationwide.
