Pittsburgh has completed its first flag display ahead of the Group of 20 summit it is hosting on Sept. 24 and 25.

Allegheny Conference vice president Bill Flanagan says an expert was consulted to avoid mistakes.

Luckily, the final arbiter for the proper care and display of the U.S. flag is based in Pittsburgh — the National Flag Foundation.

In the new media center display, the U.S. flag is on the left. Then, the 19 other nation's flags are in alphabetical order. The European Union flag is at the end.

Allegheny County's transit agency has approved a $362.9 million operating budget that will likely see fares increase in January but maintains service levels.To deal with an anticipated deficit of more than $13 million, the Port Authority shifted some maintenance money from its capital budget and uses an anticipated surplus of nearly $9 million from the current and previous fiscal years.Authority CEO Steve Bland says the base fare could increase by 25 cents, to $2.25.The budget takes effect on July 1 and is 5 percent more than the Port Authority spent in the 2008-09 fiscal year.
