S. Daniel Ward, 48, of Round Lake Beach, Ill., formerly of Winfield Township, passed away suddenly at 9:15 p.m. Wednesday at his residence.

He was born in Natrona Heights on Nov. 19, 1960, the son of Jack Ward and Helen (Welsh).

He worked as a mechanical engineer for Parkson Corp. of Chicago, specializing in water filtration for the city.

Daniel graduated from Knoch High School and Pennsylvania State University.

He enjoyed skiing, hunting and was an avid Penn State football fan. He was an accomplished mechanical engineer with numerous patents credited to his ingenuity. His winning smile and quick wit will be sadly missed.

Surviving are his parents of Sarver; his 12-year-old son, Christopher Ward, of Round Lake Beach, Ill.; his three sisters, Kathleen Ward-Zigo (Albert) of Natrona Heights, Judy Ward-Engelkes (Frank) of San Diego, Calif., and Christine Ward of Pittsburgh; three brothers, James Ward of Memphis, Tenn., John Ward (Candy) of Renfrew and Jeff Ward (Penny) of Sarver.

<B>WARD</B> — Family and friends of S. Daniel Ward, who died Wednesday, May 20, 2009, are being received from 9 to 11 a.m. Tuesday in the <B>Redmond Funeral Home Inc.,</B> 524 High St., Freeport. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church, Cabot, at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday with Father Ward Stakem officiating.
