PITTSBURGH — Pittsburgh is paying $40,000 to fly in officials from London to help plan for the G-20 summit in September.

London hosted the summit of 19 world leaders in April and has the most up-to-date knowledge of what to expect.

President Barack Obama recently announced Pittsburgh would host the next summit on Sept. 24 and Sept. 25.

Pittsburgh Mayor Luke Ravenstahl's spokeswoman Joanna Doven says most of the London officials being brought in are public safety experts.

Pittsburgh is listed as financially distressed. Doven says a state committee that oversees the city's finances approved the extra $40,000 in spending.

The White House has said Pittsburgh was chosen as a symbol of economic recovery.
