PITTSBURGH — Butler Cubs boxers Rich Wilson and Luke Homa competed on a Pittsburgh Athletic Association amateur fight card Friday night.

Wilson, 15, of Butler scored a decision over Shaya Berry of Clairton in the 160-pound subnovice class.

Homa, 15, of Butler lost a narrow decision to Ricco Lucchione of Uniontown in a 140-pound subnovice bout.

SLIPPERY ROCK — Slippery Rock University distance runner Jenn Harpp was named to the second team of the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-American track and field and cross country squad, as selected by CoSIDA.To be eligible, a student athlete must carry a 3.30 GPA and significant athletic credentials.Harpp had a 3.92 GPA in the exercise science and physical therapy programs and finished second place in the 5,000-meter run at the NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships. She broke school records in the 3,000 and 5,000 and was a member of the record-setting 3,200 and relay team.Harpp was second at the PSAC Cross Country Championship and ninth at the regionals.In the spring, her time in the 10,000-meter run was the fifth-fastest in the country and an SRU record.

PHOENIX — Chicago Bulls and White Sox owner Jerry Reinsdorf has promised to make an offer by Friday to buy the bankrupt Phoenix Coyotes and keep the team in Arizona.Reinsdorf's attorney Alan Klein said Monday his client is in the midst of conversations with the city of Glendale on a new lease agreement that would be part of the proposal.
