Fay E. Murphy, 81, of Butler died Tuesday afternoon at the Butler Memorial Hospital.

Born March 27, 1928, in Hays Borough, Allegheny County, she was the daughter of the late Charles F. and Violet (Irwin) Eckert.

She was a 1946 graduate of Taylor-Alderdice High School and had worked in the accounting department for Nationwide Insurance in Butler for more than 20 years until her retirement in the late 1990s.

Fay was a member of the St. Andrew Roman Catholic Church in Butler and had enjoyed gardening.

Surviving are her daughter, Rebecca M. Brown and her husband, Timothy, of Ellwood City; a grandson, Michael M. Brown of Ellwood City; a sister-in-law, Martha King of Cranberry Township; and two cousins, Jane H. Phibbs and Shirley M. Phibbs, both of Hooker.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond L. Murphy, who died Oct. 22, 1966; and twin granddaughters, Gretchen Marie and Rachel Lynn.

<B>Murphy </B>—<B> </B>Friends of Fay E. Murphy, who died Tuesday, May 19, 2009, will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the <B>Geibel Funeral Home</B>, 201 E. Cunningham St., Butler. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday at the St. Andrew Roman Catholic Church, North Main Street Extension, Butler. The Rev. James Salberg, pastor, will officiate.
