Betty Jane Bloom

Betty Jane Bloom, 89, of Prospect, passed away Thursday evening at St. John's Specialty Care Center, where she had been a resident.

She was born Feb. 20, 1920, in Butler, the daughter of Charles and Helen (McCandless) McMillen.

She was a member of the Mt. Nebo Presbyterian Church, where she was a custodian for years. She belonged to the Willing Workers Sunday School Class, the former Prospect Senior Center, the Mt. Chestnut Senior Center and the Pleasant Hills Extension Club.

She worked at the Presbyterian Church of Prospect Preschool and enjoyed child care. Her hobbies were quilting, crafts, walking, camping and her pets.

Surviving are one son, Darrel (Carol) Bloom of Evans City; two daughters, Martha Meyer (Richard) of Pittsburgh and Mary Rush (Willis) of Prospect; 11 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Floyd Bloom, whom she married Sept. 4, 1939, and who passed away Nov. 8, 1998; two sons, two sisters, one brother and a granddaughter.

<B>BLOOM</B> — Visitation for Betty J. Bloom, who passed away Thursday, May 14, 2009, will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the <B>Edward L. Raisley Funeral Home</B>, 387 Main St., Prospect. The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Monday at the funeral home with the Rev. Rob Allison, her church pastor, officiating.A graveside committal service will follow at the Greenlawn Burial Estates, Butler.Memorial contribution checks can be made to the Betty Bloom Memorial Fund for the benefit of her grandson, Daniel R. Meyer.
