Esther Irene McGrady
Esther Irene (Minteer) McGrady, 93, went to be with her Lord and Savior peacefully Wednesday morning at ACMH Hospital, Kittanning.
She was born Nov. 19, 1915, in West Franklin Township, the daughter of the late Warren and Ada Minteer.
She was a member of the second graduating class of Worthington High School in 1933.
Esther was a devoted mother and grandmother who worked very hard on the family farm. She also was employed by the Wexford Holiday Inn. She did housework for families in the Kittanning area and volunteered for the Easter Seal Society of Butler.
She faithfully attended the Bright Hope Community Church in Meridian and loved her church family and reading her Bible. Esther often could be overheard singing her favorite hymns. She enjoyed homemade ice cream and eating out.
She is survived by three sons and a daughter, Richard (Karen) McGrady, Ronald McGrady and James (Debbie) McGrady and Jean (Carlton) Simmers, all of the Worthington area. She also is survived by six grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandchild; one sister, Anna Kruggel of Tucson, Ariz.; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Bernard McGrady, who died in 1971; three brothers; two sisters; and one grandson.
<B>McGRADY </B>— Friends of Esther Irene (Minteer) McGrady, who died Wednesday, May 13, 2009, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at the<B> F. Duane Snyder Funeral Home</B>, Worthington. Additional visitation will be held for one hour before the 11 a.m. Saturday service at the funeral home. Pastor Paul Hoover, her pastor, will officiate.
