Raymond D. "Rip" McFeely, 82, died at 9:45 a.m. Tuesday at his home at Lee Lane, Grove City, where he lived for the past 12 years, following an extended illness.

Born in McKees Rocks, June 1, 1926, he was the son of William J. McFeely and Elsie Burger McFeely.

He grew up in West Liberty and lived 30 years in North Liberty.

He married Marlene Richardson, Sept. 1, 1951.

He retired from the Bureau of Vocational Rehabilitation, State of Pennsylvania, where he was a counselor for 20 years.

He was a charter member of St. Peter Catholic Church, Slippery Rock, and was a current member of the Church of the Beloved Disciple, Grove City.

He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and received the Purple Heart.

Rip was an honorary member of the Knights of Columbus and was a winter resident of Sun City, Ariz.

He was an avid hunter, fisherman and golfer, and he especially like spending time with his family.

Surviving are his wife, Marlene at home; two daughters, Joan Hayes and her husband, Timothy M., of Valencia and Ann Puntureri and her husband, Carl J., of Stoneboro; two sons, William D. McFeely and his wife, Debbie, of Mount Vernon, Ohio, and Dr. Patrick D. McFeely and his wife Anne, of Massillon, Ohio; a sister-in-law, Dee McFeely of Grove City; 10 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, William J. and James McFeely; and a sister, Mary Murphy.

<B>McFEELY</B> — Visitation for Raymond D. "Rip" McFeely, who died Tuesday, May 12, 2009, will be from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at <B>Cunningham Funeral Home, Inc.</B>, 306 Bessemer Ave., Grove City. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at the funeral home with the Rev. Father Mark Hoffman of the Church of the Beloved Disciple, Grove City, officiating. Burial will be at St. Anthony Cemetery, Harrisville.Memorial tributes in Rip's memory may be made to Church of the Beloved Disciple, Building Fund, 1310 S. Center St., Ext., Grove City, PA 16127.
