Rebecca Cratty, 17, of Evans City on May 30 was named the 2009-10 Butler County Dairy Princess.Cratty is a senior at Butler High School and is the daughter of Doug and Carla Cratty. She is a member of the Butler County 4H Dairy Club and owns Brown Swiss dairy cows. A member of the Butler County 4H Livestock Club, she also owns two lambs. She has been involved with Butler County Dairy Promotion and was a Dairy Maid and the 2008-09 Alternate Dairy Princess.At Butler High School, Cratty is a member of the student council, the Junior National Honor Society, the varsity cheerleading squad, the Butler High School competition cheerleading squad and the varsity track team. She is active in her church, St. Fidelis Roman Catholic Church in Meridian, where she belongs to the youth group, has served in vacation Bible school and will serve this summer on a mission trip to the Appalachian region in West Virginia to rebuild homes for those in need. She coaches for the Midget City Cheerleading Squad for City League in Meridian and works at Red Lobster.Rebecca's duties as Butler County Dairy Princess will be to promote the Dairy Industry and to educate the public on the importance of dairy. The <B>Butler Garden Club</B> recently awarded <B>Lifesteps </B>$1,000 to help fund the beautification of the Lifesteps central facility on New Castle Road.The funds will help to offset the cost to prune trees, apply mulch and remove a tree at the central facility. In addition to their contribution, the Butler Garden Club visits with clients from Lifesteps' adult day health services four times a year to plant flowers and do crafts. Lifesteps' adult day health services is a medically monitored day program for seniors and medically fragile and socially isolated adults.———
Emily Dunn was named Little Miss Butler County, and Skylar Ruth was named Junior Miss Butler County/America at the Miss Butler County pageant April 29 at the Succop Theater.Dunn, 10, is a third grader at North Cambria Elementary School and is the daughter of Paul and Debbie Weaver of North Cambria. She sang “Part of Your World.”Ruth, 12, is a sixth grader at Clearfield Elementary School and is the daughter of Calvin and Michele Ruth of Butler. She sang and danced to “Popular.”

<B>Greater Harmony Chorus </B>won first place in the midsize chorus division in the Region 17 Sweet Adelines International competition, held in May in Cleveland. The chorus also won third place overall. Sixteen choruses competed this year in the region, which includes parts of Pennsylvania, Ohio, Michigan and Indiana.Master Director Bonnie McKibben, an International Quartet champion and Sweet Adelines International Showmanship Judge, led the chorus to victory.
