PITTSBURGH — Four students from Duquesne University are returning home after being quarantined and treated for swine flu while on a school trip to Italy.

University spokeswoman Bridget Fare said the students were among a group of 11 traveling near Rome with the head of the school's voice department. They are returning to Pittsburgh on Tuesday.

Fare said the names of the students will not be released. She said the students were doing academic work and were scheduled to perform. The show was canceled.

She said the group left Pittsburgh sometime between May 22 and 23. The first student became ill shortly after arriving in Italy and tested positive for the H1N1 virus. Later, three other students tested positive for the flu.

MOUNT LEBANON — A Virgin Mary statue in a Pittsburgh-area church was knocked over and broken by vandals who also used orange paint to write "666" on the statue's forehead.Rev. David Bonnar said it was "a really horrific act."Police are searching for those who vandalized the grotto in St. Bernard Church in Mount Lebanon.Bonnar said the statue's left arm was broken along with other part of its left side. He said the vandals also tore apart rosary beads and threw them around the grotto. He said the area has traditionally been a place for quiet prayer.
