Scott

George R. Scott, 63, of Sarver died peacefully Sunday at UPMC Passavant after a short battle with cancer.

Born May 12, 1945, in Chicago, Ill., he was the son of George and Edna Mae Fink Scott.

He was a draftsman for J.V. Manufacturing.

He was a graduate of New Kensington High School, and he served three years in the U.S. Army.

He was a former Scoutmaster of Boy Scout Troop 523, served as district and unit commissioner for Moraine Trails Council and received his Silver Beaver and Lamb awards for his service in scouting. He also was a Vigil member of the Order of the Arrow for Moraine Trails Council. He was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Sarver, where he served on church council for several years.

He enjoyed camping, backpacking, hunting and spending time with his family.

Surviving are his wife, Doris Hetrick Scott, whom he married May 27, 1972; his two daughters, Susan (Dan) Bekina of Homer City and Erin (Samuel) Yocca of St. Augustine, Fla.; his son, Shawn (Jennifer) Scott of Natrona Heights; his grandchildren, Abbey and Aiden Bekina of Homer City and Kailey and Damian Yocca of St. Augustine, Fla.; two stepgranddaughters, Stephanie and Samantha Yocca of Avonmore; his brothers, Don Scott of North Carolina and Marshall (Brenda) Scott of Maryland; his sisters, Edna Scott of North Carolina and Gail Kengor of Ohio; and several nieces and nephews.

Preceding him in death were his parents and his maternal and fraternal grandparents.

<B>SCOTT</B> — Friends of George R. Scott, who died Sunday, May 3, 2009, will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 9 p.m. today at the <B>Fox Funeral Home</B>, 410 W. Main St., Saxonburg. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Sarver with the Rev. Emery Barnett officiating.
