Mary E. Bratkovich, 81, of Kaylor, Pine Run, Bradys Bend Township, died Friday at Sugar Creek Rest, Sugarcreek Township, Armstrong County.

Born Oct. 18, 1927, in Muddy Creek Township, she was the daughter of Harold Q. and Sarah E. (Armbruster) McBride.

She was the widow of Frank E. Bratkovich Sr. They were married June 11, 1960.

She was active in Armstrong County Democratic politics.

Mrs. Bratkovich was a floor manager at G.C Murphys, Butler, for 20 years; bookkeeper for the Modern Department Store, East Brady, for years; bookkeeper and accountant for many businesses for 30 years; and the Bradys Bend Township tax collector for 28 years.

She was a member of the St. Patrick Roman Catholic Church, Bradys Bend; a lifetime member and past president of the St. Patrick Church Altar rosary Society; and a 4th grade CCD teacher at the St. Patrick Church for 12 Years. She also volunteered and oversaw financial activities at St. Patrick Church for many years.

Surviving are a son, Frank E. Bratkovich Jr. of Kaylor, Pine Run; a daughter, Mrs. Kenneth (Sarah) Clark of Donegal Township; a granddaughter, Emma Grace Clark of Donegal Township; and three sisters, Ruth Dumbaugh of Fort Myers Beach, Fla., Jane McKinney of Cleveland, Ohio, and Mrs. George (Jean) Rader of Butler. Also surviving is a special sister-in-law, Dorothy McBride of Butler.

In addition to her husband, who died Jan. 27, 2005, she was preceded in death by four brothers.

<B>BRATKOVICH</B> Friends of Mary E. Bratkovich, who died Friday, April 24, 2009, will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. today and from 6 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the <B>Charles B. Buechele Funeral Home</B>, 105 Fourth St., East Brady. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the St. Patrick Church, Bradys Bend, with the Rev. Joseph Bonafed, pastor of the St Patrick Church, officiating. Burial will be at the St. Mary Cemetery, Bradys Bend Township.A parish prayer service will be held Tuesday in the funeral home.
