Moraine celebrates outdoors
MUDDY CREEK TWP — Moraine State Park will host its first National Get Outdoors Day on June 13 at Lakeview Beach with several events.
There are 53 official Get Outdoors Day sites across the nation, according to the event's Web site. This is the second year of the event, which promotes active outdoor activities.
Jeremy Rekich, assistant park manager at Moraine State Park, said he expects several thousand people to attend the event depending on the weather.
"I think it will be a great event for people who have never done some of this stuff before so they can learn more," Rekich said. "It's a good place to get introduced to a lot of these activities, and they can see what is offered at Moraine and come back."
Rekich said the day will give people a chance to try outdoor activities they have never experienced before.
