William E. Harford Jr.
William Ernest Harford Jr., 89, of Hampton Township died Tuesday in the UPMC Passavant Hospital, McCandless Township.
He was born Friday, Nov. 7, 1919, in Sharpsburg to the late Mary Susan (Eyman) and the late William E. Harford Sr.
Mr. Harford worked as a clerk with the Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission until his retirement in 1984.
He was a U.S. Army veteran who served in the American Theater and the Asiatic-Pacific Theater during World War II. Mr. Harford belonged to the Mars Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 7505 and was a past post commander.
He enjoyed watching Indy car racing, the Pirates, Steelers and Penguins.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Rita M. (Kuntz) Harford. They were married May 16, 1946, at the St. Mary Church on the North Side in Pittsburgh. Also surviving are a son, William E. (Janice "Beth") Harford of Ross Township; a son, John (Linda) Harford of Hampton Township; a daughter, Margaret "Peggy" (Kevin) Mechling of Butler; a son, Robert (Nanette) Harford of West Deer Township; granddaughters Marla, Jessica and Ashley; and great-granddaughters Madelyn, Abigail, Alaina and Ava.
<B>HARFORD</B> Visitation for William Ernest Harford Jr., who died Tuesday, April 21, 2009, will be held from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the <B>Herbert R.
