Leonard A. Callen

Leonard A. Callen, 80, of 580 Lardintown Road, Sarver, Clinton Township, died at 4:45 a.m. Monday at the Sunnyview Nursing and Rehabilitation Center after a lengthy illness.

He was born in Clinton Township, Sarver, July 19, 1928. He was the son of Thomas Callen and Mary Jane Dawson Callen and lived in the Sarver area all his life.

He was the widower of Geraldine M. (Allenberg) Callen, who died Dec. 22, 2003.

He had been a heavy equipment operator for Local 66 Operating Engineers for 40 years and retired in 1990.

He was a member of the Westminster United Presbyterian Church, Clinton Township.

Mr. Callen enjoyed hunting, fishing and watching TV.

Surviving are a son, Ronald E. and Joyce Callen of Saxonburg; six grandchildren, Christle L. Critchlow, Ronald G. Callen (Shannon), Adrian L. Callen, Radavan J. Callen, Ryan Callen and Rita Callen; three great-grandchildren, Brandon Critchlow, Trent Callen and Jordyn Callen; a brother, Raymond Lee and Beverly Callen of Fawn Township; and a sister, Ethel Reedy of Fawn Township.

In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by a son, Lynn Clifford Callen, who died Nov. 17, 2004; seven brothers, John, Floyd, Clarence, Glenn, Melvin, Paul and Elmer Callen; and a sister, Pearl Williams.

<B>CALLEN</B> - The family of Leonard A. Callen, who died Monday, April 20, 2009, will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday and from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at the <B>KRYNICKI FUNERAL HOME</B>,<B> </B>1007<B> </B>Freeport Road, Natrona Heights. Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home with the Rev. Debra Huffmeyer, his pastor, officiating. Burial will be at the Lakewood Memorial Gardens, Indiana Township, Allegheny County.Condolences may be submitted at www.krynickifh.com.
