Worth voting results corrected

Because of a technology glitch, the Butler County Elections Bureau reported incorrect vote results for Worth Township on the county Web site.

The new totals, which are still unofficial, changed the winners for township supervisor nominations.

Brian McMurdy won the Republican nominations for both a township supervisor seat with a six-year term and a seat with a four-year term.

For the six-year seat, McMurdy received 97 votes while Tom Shaffer had 22 votes.

McMurdy received 93 votes for the four-year seat, beating Dwight Heitzenrater's 28 votes.

Democrat Carl Rodgers ran unopposed for both seats.

The new vote tallies did not change the results of any other races.

The corrected Worth tallies also changed the totals for the Slippery Rock School Board race in Region 3.

Michael Scheer received 183 votes to gain the Democrat nomination for a four-year seat.

Scheer, who cross-filed, received 279 votes also to gain the Republican nomination.

Kenneth Speer received 289 votes to get the Republican nomination for a two-year seat.

The Worth Township totals also increase the tallies for county and state races.
