Marianna G. Marshall, 88, of Zelienople, formerly of Ben Avon, died Thursday at the Good Samaritan Hospice at Concordia in Cabot.

Born May 23, 1920, in Odessa, Ukraine, she was the daughter of the late Ivanovich and Lydia Goraisky.

Mrs. Marshall was a graduate of the University of Leningrad, where she was pursuing her doctorate in biology until the onset of World War II. She was a survivor of the siege of Leningrad, the German war camps in Berlin and as a war prisoner, worked in the field hospitals.

She is survived by a daughter, Elizabeth Marshall of Ypsilanti, Mich.; two sons, William Jordan Marshall III and his wife, Patricia, of Washington D.C., and Keith A. Marshall and his wife, Linda, of Evans City; and seven grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Col. William Jordan Marshall Jr., who died in June 2000.
