Metaphoric mural

A mural flows across the west side of Slippery Rock University's Center for Lifelong and Community Learning building on Elm Street after the project was completed during the Kaleidoscope arts festival in April.

The idea for the mural came from a team of aspiring artists. The group settled on a mosaic that would depict Slippery Rock Creek with an underlying metaphor that presents Slippery Rock as a passageway.

This is the third mural in the borough. Last summer, a mural was added to the side of the North Country Brewing Co. by Slippery Rock artist Sean Swihart, which shows a man dressed as an old-fashioned barker with a circus. In 2005, a mural was painted on the side of First National Bank on Main Street as a part of the downtown revitalization. That mural has historical figures from the community.
