Track athletes advance to PIAA

Several Slippery Rock and Grove City track and field athletes advanced to the PIAA Class AAA Track and Field Championships next weekend in Shippensburg.

Grove City junior Hana Casalnova won three District 10 titles Wednesday at the district championship meet at Harbor Creek.

Casalnova won the 400-meter dash with a time of 58.37 seconds and also captured the 800 with a time of 2:19.83.

Casalnova also was a member of Grove City's district winning 1,600-meter relay team that finished with a time of 4:13.82.

Other members of that relay team are Eliza Lowe, who won her own individual title in the 300-meter hurdles, Megan Degraaf and Nicole Wizorek.

The Grove City boys got district championships from Tom Bollinger in the 1,600-meter run (4:35.89), Jake Kildoo in the 3,200-meter run (9:50.23) and its 3,200 relay team of Wesley Phipps, Ryan Sestak, Mark Jaskowak and Aaron Anderson.

The Slippery Rock boys got two district champions.

Isaac Osborne captured the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 14.98 seconds and Ethan Geisler grabbed the title in the 300-meter hurdles (40.48).

Also qualifying for the state meet was Sam Lotz, who was third in the triple jump with a leap of 44 feet, 8¾ inches, but achieved the state qualifying standard.

The Slippery Rock girls will compete in the District 10 Class AA meet at Hickory High School Saturday.

Morgan Midkiff scored four goals as the Seneca Valley girls lacrosse team closed the season with a 9-7 win over Vincentian Academy Wednesday night.Corissa Culichia added three goals and Nicole Roach and Taylor Mayeda also scored for the Raiders (5-10).Knoch 16, Greensburg Salem 7 — Jamie Antoszyk scored four goals and Krissy Harbison and Paige Macadaeg added three apiece as the Knights wrapped up the season with the win.Stephanie Eagal and Casey paul added two goals each and Brooke Balliet and Kala Yenick one each for Knoch (6-12).
