John Griffiths, who is retiring after 39 years as an English professor and poet at Butler County Community College, hugs a co-worker Thursday during a retirement party at the college. Seated is Walter Fitzpatrick, who is retiring after 42 years as a geography instructor and longtime scorekeeper for the baseball team. Fitzpatrick, who sets the record as the longest-serving retiree at the college, plans to watch a lot of baseball during his retirement years. Griffiths will be moving to his new home in Erie, where he plans to buy a boat.
