Frank Edward Schmidt
Frank "Schmitty" Edward Schmidt, 55, of Hampton Township died Sunday at UPMC Passavant Hospital, McCandless Township.
He was born June 26, 1953, in Pittsburgh to the late Frank R. and Lorraine A. (Bleil) Schmidt.
Mr. Schmidt was a funeral director for more than 33 years with the Herbert R. King Jr. Funeral Home in Hampton Township.
Frank was extremely active in the North Hills community and was a member of the St. Mary Church.
He was a charter member of the Hampton Rotary and delivered Meal on Wheels. He also was a member of the Richland Sportsmen's Association; the DOH Club in Etna; the Pennsylvania Funeral Directors Association, where he was a past district governor and was on its legislative committee; and the Butler County Funeral Directors' Association, serving as its secretary/treasurer for many years. He was an usher at the St. Mary of the Assumption Church in Glenshaw, and he belonged to the local Harley Owners Group, HOG Chapter.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Ann (Gigler) Schmidt of Hampton Township; a daughter, Tiffany Schmidt of Indiana Township; a son, Daniel Schmidt of West Deer Township; a son, Justin E. Schmidt of Hampton Township; his mother, Lorraine (Bleil) Schmidt of Hampton Township; and his mother-in-law, Joan L. Gigler of Hampton Township.
He was preceded in death by his father, Frank R. Schmidt.
<B>SCHMIDT</B> — Visitation for Frank "Schmitty" Edward Schmidt, who died Sunday, March 22, 2009, will be from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. today and Wednesday at the <B>Herbert R. King Jr. Funeral Home</B>, 2841 Woodland Circle, Allison Park. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the St. Catherine of Sweden Roman Catholic Church, 2445 Wildwood Road in Wildwood, with Father Regis Farmer as celebrant. Interment will be in the Hampton Cemetery with immediate family only in attendance.The family wishes memorial tributes to be given to one of Frank's favorite endeavors, the Rotary Club of Hampton Township Scholarship Fund, P.O.
