Lois G. Christy Hinds, 87, of 914 Sunset Ave., Grove City, died Tuesday evening at the Grove City Medical Center.

Born in Slippery Rock, Feb. 15, 1922, she was the daughter of Albert C. Christy and Laura Ellen Hemphill Christy.

She married Frank E. "Bud" Hinds Jr. on July 8, 1940. He died April 12, 1990.

She had worked at the Bashline Hospital and retired from the Grove City Hospital in housekeeping.

She loved her children and grandchildren. Her heart and home was always open to anyone who needed her love.

Mrs. Hinds was a member of the Sandy Lake Weslyan Church and a former member of the Rock Hounds Gem Society of New Castle.

Surviving are two sons, Dale E. Hinds of Portersville and Frank E. Hinds III of Grove City; a daughter, Marilyn K. Cogswell of Fritch, Texas; 14 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; and 12 great-great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two daughters, Beverly J. Christy and Geraldine L. Cogswell; two grandchildren, Bruce E. Hinds and Kenneth S. Holmes; three brothers, Raymond, Lemoyne and George Christy; and four sisters, Estella Shelatree, Gladys Christy, Alda Armstrong and Edna Thompson.

<B>HINDS</B> — Visitation for Lois G. Christy Hinds, who died Tuesday, March 17, 2009, will be held from 6 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the <B>Smith Funeral Home</B>, 421 New Castle St., Slippery Rock. Visitation also will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Monday at the funeral home, where services will follow at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Robert Frye of the Portersville Christian and Missionary Alliance Church officiating. Interment will be in the Slippery Rock Cemetery.Memorials may be made to the Blind Association.
