Clara M. (Barkley) McCaslin of West Sunbury passed away of Alzheimer's at 3 p.m. Feb. 27 in Lakeland, Fla.,

She was born March 8, 1948, in New Castle. She was the daughter of the late Harold W. Barkley and Ella Grim Barkley.

She was a 1966 graduate of Moniteau High School.

She was a member of the West Sunbury Presbyterian Church and had served as teacher for the primary class in Sunday school and vacation Bible school. She also was a member of the West Sunbury American Legion Post 243 Auxiliary and sang in the Sarver Choir for several years.

She was a breast cancer survivor and had participated in the Pittsburgh Susan G. Korman Race for the Cure.

She enjoyed traveling, fishing, the Pittsburgh Steelers, the Pittsburgh Penguins, embroidery to make quilts and helping care for the elderly.

She is survived by her husband, George L. "Ben" McCaslin, whom she married Dec. 18, 1967; her mother, Ella M. Barkley of West Sunbury; two sons, Shane McCaslin and his wife, Isabel, of Hamilton, N.J., and Eric McCaslin and his companion, Jeannie Chiappini, of West Sunbury; four grandchildren; one sister, Loretta Wiskeman and her companion, Robert Brahs, of Slippery Rock; one brother, Dale Barkley and his wife, Cathy, of Hilliards; two nieces; one nephew; and a very devoted friend, Mary K. Kauf of West Sunbury.

She was preceded in death by her father.

<B>McCASLIN</B> — A memorial service for Clara M. (Barkley) McCaslin, who died Feb. 27, 2009, will be held at 2 p.m. March 28 at the West Sunbury Presbyterian Church, with the Rev. Dr. Wayne Bell officiating. Burial will be at the convenience of the family.In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society or to Alzheimer's research.Arrangements are by the <B>William F. Young Funeral Home</B>, 132 Main St., West Sunbury.
