Alphonse B. Perdian
Alphonse Bernard Perdian, 97, died at 5:20 a.m. Friday in the John XXIII Home, Hermitage.
Mr. Perdian was born May 20, 1911, in Pittsburgh, to Francisek and Stella Miziewski Perdian.
He attended St. Adalbert's School, Farrell, and Farrell High School. He lived in Farrell until 1950, at which time he moved to 2789 Morefield Road, Hermitage.
In 1975, he retired with 38 years of service from the former Sharon Steel Corp., where he was employed as a clerk in the blooming mill.
During World War II, he was employed by Carnegie Steel at the Ordinance Plant, Farrell, where he met his wife, Velma Horstman Perdian. They were married in St. Columbkille's Church, Stoneboro, Oct. 21, 1944. She died March 18, 2008.
Mr. Perdian was a member of St. Adalbert's Church, Farrell. He belonged to the Polish National Alliance Lodge 866 and the Casimir Pulaski Mutual Aid Society, both in Farrell.
In his youth, he played basketball for the Lincoln Athletic Club, St. Adalbert's Church and PNA teams. He was an avid fisherman and coin collector.
Surviving are his three sons, Leslie F. of Spavinaw, Okla., Rick of Kuesnacht, Switzerland and Bernard L. of Hermitage; three grandchildren; and three great-granddaughters. He also is survived by his sister, Gertrude Perdian Burrus, Coral Gables, Fla.
His brothers, Walter, Alfred F. and Frank A. Perdian; and his sister, Estelle Perdian Peters, preceded him in death. He also was preceded in death by his stepfather, Andrew Kajma; his half brothers, Raymond A. and Leonard A. Kajma; and his half sisters, Grace Kajma Fritch and Dolores Kajma Fordeley (Mrs. Joseph).
<B>PERDIAN</B> — Friends of Alphonse Bernard Perdian, who died Friday, March 6, 2009, may call from 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday, March 14 at the <B>A.E. Pustinger Funeral Home Ltd.</B>, 1310 Idaho St., Farrell. A funeral service will follow at 11 a.m. in the funeral home with the Rev. Daniel J. Kresinski, pastor of St. Adalbert Church, Farrell, presiding.
